In plain English
Many plans start as sketches on paper with measurements written in by hand, and redrawing them in design software is slow. This app reads the sketch and its dimensions and produces a DXF file (a standard CAD drawing format) you can edit.
How it works
- Upload a photo of a hand-drawn plan.
- A vision model traces the walls, and a simpler line detector takes over if the model is unavailable.
- OCR (reading text from images) picks up handwritten dimensions like 12' 6".
- Parse the feet and inches, check that dimensions agree, and set the drawing's scale.
- Export editable DXF geometry, with a correction path for anything uncertain.
What I did
I built it solo in Python as a modular pipeline.
What I learned
Handwritten measurements are messy. Most of the work is handling feet, inches and ambiguity, and drawing the lines is the easy part.
