In plain English
When crypto is stolen, the funds usually hop through many wallets. Blockdawg builds a map of those hops so an investigator can follow the trail forward to where the money went, or backward to where it came from.
How it works
- Start from a wallet or transaction of interest.
- Build a graph (a map of wallets connected by transfers) from blockchain records.
- Walk the graph forward and backward to pull out the paths the money took.
- Tag addresses with heuristic labels (educated guesses about wallet type) to guide the investigation.
What I did
I built it solo in Python, using outside blockchain data providers.
What I learned
A wallet label is a useful clue for an investigator, and proving who someone is takes far more evidence.
